What To Do When Stress Takes Over

Going about activities in our daily lives can sometimes become too much to handle, whether it be going to school, taking care of kids or family members, working a job, etc. Sometimes it is important to step aside from the things that are stressful, and focus on yourself for a moment. If you are trying to do some kind of task and are not completely into it mentally, it can affect the whole situation. Personally, I know that if I try to get something done and my mind is off somewhere else or off thinking about the other million things I need to get done, I tend to slack on whatever it is that I am doing and the results do not turn out too well. Whenever I get into these brain fogs, the thing that I find best to do to get out of them is go out and do something that I enjoy or that relaxes me. These things can be some type of hobby, or just some little activity that will help start to clear your mind.
Here is a list of some things that I enjoy that tend to allow my mind to stop for a little while and refocus: 

- taking long walks/bike rides outdoors
By doing this, you are able to stop and enjoy all the beauty around you and become more relaxed by reflecting on all that nature has to offer.

- listen to music 
One thing I have found is that music is able to take you to any special place you wish to go. It allows you to revisit old memories or is able to give you some sort of hope by allowing the lyrics/sounds to wash over you.

- go exploring/ seek adventure
Sometimes when I have so much to get done and can't possibly think anymore I decide to go out and try something new or go search for something exciting. I also like to explore and discover new places/spots (especially different coffee shops). 

- enjoy a movie
Movies or television shows are a great way to just stop what you are doing for a short amount of time and relax.
- spend some time with positive people
There are some days that we all can just use a little bit of encouragement and reassurance from a friend. No matter the circumstance, a good friend will always be there to help shine a bit of positivity on a situation.

- get up and enjoy the sunrise, stay out and watch the sunset, or go star gazing
Nature has a wonderful way of allowing you to let go of your thoughts/feelings and focus on something more beautiful and promising.

There are all kinds of different ways to handle stress or things that you might be going through. I hope maybe some of these ideas will help you do that, or maybe even helped spark some other idea that could help you combat anything.
